Crocus Sativus is commonly known as Saffron Crocus. That is becuase this is the crocus from which the precious spice, saffron, is extracted. The aromatic, spicy taste is appreciated in dishes in addition to its colour. However the flower itself has large, rich lilac flowers with purple veins. Blooming usually occurs around September/October. Plant the bulbs immediately after receipt in a sunny location with gritty, well drained soil and keep weed free. This flower does not like to be in wet, heavy soil. Excellent for naturalising. Bee-friendly.

Delivery and Shipping

Local deliveries - these are carried out by our friendly Monahan's drivers, we aim to have these deliveries made in 3-5 working days but very often much sooner.  Our drivers will do what they can to deliver your items exactly where you want them but some surfaces such as gravel, grass or steps as well as access issues will prevent us from being able to do this. We will always contact you before delivery so please discuss any questions you may have with our customer service staff.

Nationwide pallet deliveries - these are delivered through the pallet network and we can only guarantee a curb side delivery.  You will be contacted before the items are delivered by the company carrying out the delivery.

Nationwide smaller items - we use An Post and Fastway for these types of deliveries.
